Product Description

IS 302 (Part 2/Section 3) deals with electric irons. The Bureau of Indian Standards adopted this Indian Standard (Part 2/Section 3) (first revision) after the Board of the Electrotechnical Department approved the draft finalized by the Committee of the Electrical Equipment Department. This standard specifies safety requirements for electric irons.

This standard deals with the safety requirements for electric irons and steam irons for domestic and similar applications, including those with a separate water tank or boiler with a capacity of 5 liters or less and a rated voltage of 250 V or less.

Every household electrical appliance's safety, including that of the electric iron, is covered by the required ISI Certification Scheme in accordance with IS standard IS 302 (Part-2/Sec-3): 2007.

Documents required to apply BIS certification for electric iron:

- Company incorporation certificate.
- GST and MSME certificate.
- Google business registration.
- Brand name or trademark registration.
- Manufacturing Flow Chart.
- Plant Layout.
- List of the machinery and raw-materials.
- Address proof of the company i.e rent agreement or lease deed or ownership deed etc.
- Images of the products.
- Appointment letter, ID proof and qualification proof of the Quality control person.
- Test report of the products from BIS approved labs.
- List of the testing equipment

Govt. Fee to apply BIS certification for electric iron:

- Application fee: 1,000/- INR
- Annual fee: 1,000/- INR
- BIS inspection fee: 7,000/- INR
- Minimum marking fee: Rs. 73000 for Large Scale , Rs. 59000 for Medium Scale, Rs. 59000 for Small Scale and Rs. 59000 for Micro Scale Enterprises units.
- BIS testing fee: 18,000/- INR (approx.)

Concession in Govt. Fee for new startups and micro units:

Concession in the minimum marking fee (Govt. Fee) for new startups or micro units turnover of less than 5 crore

Validity of the BIS License for electric iron:

365 days

Step by step procedure to apply BIS certification for electric iron:

Step 1. Pre-testing of the product from a third-party laboratory approved by BIS.
Step 2. Filing of the application along with requisite documents on the BIS Manak portal.
Step 3. Payment of the government fee as applicable.
Step 4. Scrutiny of the application by the BIS officers.
Step 5. Factory inspection will be conducted by the BIS officer at the factory premises.
Step 6. During factory inspection, BIS officer will check plant layout, process flow chart, competency of the QCI Person, testing facilities, etc., and after verification, samples will be sealed by the BIS officer.
Step 7. Dispatch the samples sealed by the BIS officer during inspection to the concerned BIS Central laboratory and submit the POD (proof of delivery) of the samples on the BIS Manak Portal.
Step 8: After the final examination of all the documents by the head of the BIS Department, the license for BIS on wheel rims will be granted.

30 to 45 days
